History

In 1976 DPD was founded by 18 large German freight forwarders. The aim of this joint venture was to set up a customer-oriented parcel transport system with improved service standards for business customers. The company’s rapid growth indicates that there was strong demand for such an alternative to the post office and railways. In the year it was founded, DPD already transported 1.4 mln parcels. Only four years later, in 1980, this number had already grown to 7 million.

With a daily volume of 2 million parcels shipped in a seamless international network, DPD is today one of the leading international express and parcel service providers. With over 800 depots in more than 40 countries, 24,000 employees and 18,000 vehicles are at the service of 300,000 business customers.

DPD is gradually increasing the internationality of its brand and is building up a comprehensive network. The aim is to create an integrated logistics and information network under a single brand umbrella. Our seamless distribution system is the top-performing road network in Europe, and extends worldwide to the most important regions for business.

DPD in Kazakhstan has been operating in the transportation market since 2005 under the name GeoPost Caspian. DPD is the flagship brand of most of the companies within GeoPost international network which we are part of.
